NASHVILLE, TN – 17 Sept. 2024: Do ya like funny songs? Kurplunk’s founding member, Kurt Kirton is no newbie to the music scene. After nearly 30 years in Nashville with 27 as an EDM artist, his new act Kurplunk intends to blow the lid off the comedy music scene with Splashback, their debut album.
With a quick-witted blend of parodies and originals songs, Kurplunk is not afraid to get silly. “Life is stressful, and people need a laugh. This album not only encompasses potty humor, but also llamas, funny fruits, and those Haribo Sugar Free Gummi bears. Victims who’ve eaten too many know what I mean!”
Kirton, a long time dance music artist and producer, undertook the challenge of learning how to craft a broad variety of genres for this foray into musical humor. The album ranges from country and bluegrass to jazz, rock, and more. “It was quite a challenge to stretch my production skills beyond the dance and pop realm, but the end result really compliments each song and keeps listeners interested.” At their Nashville album release concert October 24th, Kurplunk will even perform a dance remix of their next single.
Also on the bill is Nashville comedy artist success Steve Goodie who’s been seen on Comedy Central, Showtime, and recently throughout the US and Scotland touring his “Al! The Weird Tribute” show. He’s also been a regular favorite on the long-running humor program, The Dr. Demento Show and just released a new album.
Kurplunk and Goodie both have accompanying video to keep things lively or display their hilarious lyrics. They’re joined by Bucky Habanero, known for such hits as “Patches” and “Cold Turkey,” as well as artist/vlogger/dancer Omni Maercklein of Music City Gents.
