The 21st Annual Tomato Art Fest Sets Attendance Record

An estimated 70,000 people attended Tomato Art Fest, including record numbers for art pieces, parade participants and spectators, contests, and special events.

(NASHVILLE, TN) August 14, 2024 -- Tomato Art Fest turned 21 on August 9-10, and a record number of attendees came out to celebrate. With an estimated 70,000 people in attendance, the free two-day art festival welcomed everyone to East Nashville to showcase the talented artists who turn tomatoes into pieces of art each year. The Art Show Pre-View Party sold out as attendees were excited to have the first chance at purchasing one of the record-setting 475 art pieces on display this year.

The Push, Pull and Wear Parade also saw record numbers for participants and spectators who gathered in the streets of East Nashville, including at the center of Five Points that featured tomato popsicle graffiti art created by local artist, Troy Duff, who has been creating this Tomato Art Fest centerpiece for ten years.

The Parade kicked off the full day of events on Saturday, including 14 acts playing across two stages, contests, shopping with over 200 artisan vendors, kids activities, specialty foods and drinks. The full list of contest winners can be found on the Tomato Art Fest website here, including home decorating, costumes, hat decorating, tomato recipe, haiku, beautiful tomato, biggest, littlest, ugliest, and more.

The Bloody Marty Garden Party on Saturday morning was also a crowd favorite with tickets selling out for this special event that featured bloody marys from four local Nashville restaurants, including Lakeside Lounge, Fonda, Tall Tales and Sadie’s.

Tomato Art Fest has been voted a “Best Festival” in the Nashville Scene Reader’s Polls consecutively since 2007. Voting is now open for the Nashville Scene Best of 2025.
