About This Spot
The Lotz House is Franklin's #1 attraction on TripAdvisor and stands on ground zero of the bloody Civil War Battle of Franklin Tennessee. The floors are still covered with blood and you will see where cannons balls crashed into the house! Daily guided tours of the home plus walking battlefield tours are available. Walk touch and learn history at the Lotz House! Specialty tours are also available including Ghost Tours, Women's History Tours and Cellar Tours.
Tour guides tell the compelling story of the Lotz family that survived the Battle. Matilda Lotz turned six years old the day before the battle. She later grew up to become a famous portrait artist and her portraits are seen today in the Hearst Castle and Standford University. Today you can see many of her original oil paintings in the Lotz House.
