NASHVILLE – Two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year Luke Combs will be inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 1 p.m., the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp announced today. He joins previously announced inductees that include legendary “tropical troubadour” Jimmy Buffett; iconic gospel quartet The Fairfield Four; visionary hospitality leader Colin Reed of Ryman Hospitality Properties; and beloved Grand Ole Opry announcer and host Bill Cody.
Combs was surprised with news of his induction with an on-stage announcement and video on Saturday, October 12, at Miramar Beach, FL during the Luke Combs Bootleggers Bonfire, a three-day music and beach festival.
“Luke’s stellar career, marked by chart-topping hits and a deep connection to his fans, has made him one of country music’s brightest stars and the perfect addition to this prestigious group of honorees,” said Deana Ivey, President and CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. “It was a special moment for Luke to hear about his induction into the Music City Walk of Fame alongside hundreds of his dedicated fans, and we hope many of them will travel to Nashville to celebrate with him in person at the ceremony.”
Members of the public are invited to view the ceremony. Reed and Cody are being honored in tribute to the Grand Old Opry celebrating its 100th anniversary next year. Jimmy Buffett passed away on September 1, 2023, after a four-year battle with Merkel cell skin cancer, and will be inducted posthumously.
The ceremony will induct the 105th, 106th, 107th, 108th and 109th stars on the Music City Walk of Fame. Inductees are recognized for their significant work of preserving the musical heritage of Nashville and for contributing to the world through song.
Former Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam will induct Reed. Country music singer-songwriter and GRAMMY Award-winner Larry Gatlin, known for his harmonies with the Gatlin Brothers, will induct Cody. Singer-songwriter and Music City Walk of Fame member Mac McAnally, a longtime member of Buffett’s Coral Reefer band, will induct Buffett. Shannon Sanders, Executive Director, Creative, at BMI Nashville and an award-winning songwriter and producer, will induct The Fairfield Four.
Combs is a multi-platinum, award-winning artist and released his new full-length album, Fathers & Sons, earlier this summer on Columbia Nashville. A Grand Ole Opry member and 11-time CMA, four-time ACM and six-time Billboard Music Award-winner, Combs is nominated for three awards at the upcoming 58th Annual CMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year. Singer-songwriter Buffett was a legend of pop culture for over five decades and 31 studio albums with hits like “Come Monday” and his signature “Margaritaville.” He moved to Nashville after graduating from college to further his country music career and released his first record, Down to Earth, in 1970.
The Fairfield Four’s timeless African American acapella gospel sound has earned them three GRAMMY Awards, two Lifetime Achievement Awards, and a place in the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Current members include Joseph Thompson, Levert Allison, Larrice Byrd and Bobbye Sherrell. Colin Reed is Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ryman Hospitality Properties, formerly Gaylord Entertainment Company after serving as Chief Executive Officer since 2001 and Chairman of its Board of Directors since 2005. Bill Cody is a pre-eminent voice in Nashville, serving as the announcer and host of the Grand Ole Opry and these very Music City Walk of Fame induction ceremonies.
The Music City Walk of Fame was created in 2006 on Nashville’s Music Mile, a roughly one-mile stretch that connects downtown to Music Row. Permanent sidewalk medallions with the names of inductees are displayed in a star design.
The Music City Walk of Fame is an official project of Music City Inc., the charitable foundation of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp and is produced with the support of founding sponsor Gibson. Additional sponsors include Metro Nashville International Airport (BNA), the City of Nashville and Metro Parks and Recreation. Nominations are open to the public and are accepted in the categories of Artist, Musician, Songwriter and Producer/Music Industry Executive. Application forms are reviewed by the Music City Walk of Fame anonymous selection committee. For more information about the Music City Walk of Fame, go to visitmusiccity.com/walkoffame.
Luke Combs
Country superstar and two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year Luke Combs is a multi-platinum, award-winning artist. Adding to an already triumphant career, Combs released his new full-length album, Fathers & Sons, earlier this summer on Columbia Nashville. A collection of 12 poignant tracks, Fathers & Sons features Combs' most personal songwriting to date, as he reflects on his own experiences being a dad to his two sons and the unique bond between parents and their children. A Grand Ole Opry member and 11-time CMA, four-time ACM and six-time Billboard Music Award-winner, Combs is nominated for three awards at the upcoming 58th Annual CMA Awards—Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year (Fathers & Sons)—and recently became the first country artist to have three singles certified RIAA Diamond as his songs “Hurricane” and “When It Rains It Pours” joined “Beautiful Crazy” in achieving this milestone. He also recently joined forces with Post Malone for two songs on Malone’s new album, F-1 Trillion, released his radio single, “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma,” which is featured on the soundtrack for the new Twisters movie, is the subject of a new exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and has partnered with Opry Entertainment Group to open Category 10, a massive multi-level entertainment complex in downtown Nashville later this fall. Combs also recently completed his record-breaking “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old” stadium tour, which included sold-out, back-to-back shows at East Rutherford’s MetLife Stadium and Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium among several others. Additionally, Combs performed an unforgettable duet of “Fast Car” with Tracy Chapman during the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards earlier this year, which Rolling Stone called “one of the all-time best collaborative performances in Grammy history.” The performance added to a massive year for “Fast Car,” as Combs’ version won Single of the Year at the 2024 ACM Awards and 2023 CMA Awards (with Chapman winning Song of the Year). It also spent five-consecutive weeks atop Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and reached No. 1 on the Hot AC chart, the first song by a male solo artist to ever top both. The two-time Platinum single, which has garnered over 1.1 billion global streams to date, also spent eighteen weeks in the top 5 of Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 chart, eight of which were spent at No. 2. lukecombs.com

The Fairfield Four
Known best for their appearance at the end of the film O Brother Where Art Thou and on the subsequent soundtrack release, the Fairfield Four sing in the traditional African American a cappella gospel style they have been known for since the group’s inception more than 100 years ago. Membership has evolved over time with current members including Joseph Thompson, Levert Allison, Larrice Byrd and Bobbye Sherrell. Founded in 1921 in Nashville, the Fairfield Four have maintained their authenticity by carrying on traditional stylings exemplified by the Bessemer Sunset Four, the Birmingham Jubilee Singers and the Famous Blue Jay Singers with Silas Steele. The Fairfield Four are the recipients of multiple honors including three GRAMMY Awards for Best Traditional Gospel Recording “I Couldn't Hear Nobody Pray” in 1997, Album of the Year for the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack recording in 2001, and Best Gospel Roots album Still Rockin’ My Soul in 2016, as well as two Lifetime Achievement Awards. They were also inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999. thefairfieldfour.com
