The 100th Waffle Shop takes place on December 5, 2024

All proceeds go to benefit the church’s homeless ministries.

This year marks the centennial celebration of The Downtown Presbyterian Church's Waffle Shop. What started in 1924 as a fundraiser for The Downtown Presbyterian Church, quickly evolved into a holiday tradition. In its early days, downtown was the center of Nashville's retail and Waffle Shop marked the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. In recent years, as Nashville’s need for homeless outreach has increased, the church has expanded its mission. Funds raised from Waffle Shop are now used to provide a free breakfast and essential items to anyone in need each Saturday morning.

This year’s event takes place Thursday, Dec. 5th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Waffle Shop tickets can be purchased on the website at dpchurch.com. The $15 ticket includes:

  • A waffle breakfast which includes waffles, grits, a choice of Hattie B’s Hot Chicken or Puckett’s country bacon, or turkey hash made from the original Waffle Shop recipe, and a choice of Frothy Monkey Coffee or spiced tea
  • A free guided tour of the church’s beautiful historic Egyptian Revival sanctuary
  • An organ recital and an opportunity to participate in singing Christmas carols
  • The opportunity to shop at the church’s gift shop which includes homemade baked goods, vintage antiques, and other holiday merchandise
  • A chance to bid on wonderful items at the Silent Auction such as hotel stays, tickets to sports games, museum passes and more!
  • Most importantly, it is a contribution to the church’s community outreach program which assists those in our community who need food and other essentials.

Tickets will increase to $20 the day of the event.

Free parking will be available at the Nissan Stadium in Lot R near the Bridge Building and an Old Town Trolley will provide shuttle service from there to the church.

Mark your calendars for December 5th and plan to attend one of Nashville’s longest running fundraising events!

About Downtown Presbyterian Church’s Outreach Program:

As a downtown congregation, we believe God has called us to reach out into the surrounding community and support Nashville’s most vulnerable and marginalized residents. The church spends over $15,000 a year in food and supplies to provide a weekly nutritious meal to those in need. Volunteers assist in making and distributing the meals.

Addressing the needs of those struggling to live with burdens such as urban poverty, homelessness, addiction and domestic abuse is best achieved by partnering with dedicated organizations who have built up expertise and effectiveness in their given field.

Our partner organizations have a proven track record and we have been supporting them for many years. For a complete list of the organizations supported by the Downtown Presbyterian Church, visit dpchurch.com/mission-outreach
