Jack Daniel’s New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash

NASHVILLE – The live show for Jack Daniel’s New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park will be anchored by headliners Dierks Bentley and Lady A, with additional mainstage guest artists to include Ingrid Andress and BRELAND. The concert is free and open to the public. The five-hour television celebration on CBS will feature nearly 50 performances from a dozen locations in downtown, including acts from Lower Broadway’s honky-tonks, bars and clubs that will be part of the broadcast. It will be aired on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. An event map is available. No umbrellas at event site.

COVID-19 Protocol

All individuals wishing to enter the New Year’s Eve event site are required to show the following:

• Must have proof of a monitored negative COVID-19 test dated December 30 or 31, 2021.
• However, an individual may volunteer proof of a COVID-19 vaccination without a timely negative test. This is not an attempt to compel proof of vaccination.

All individuals 11 years of age and older are required to adhere to this requirement.

Gates for the live show at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park will open at 4:30 p.m. The Fisk Jubilee Singers, a world-renowned ensemble, will perform a selection of spiritual music at the top of the show. The five-hour broadcast will cross multiple time zones, with a countdown at midnight Eastern Time, culminating with the renowned Nashville Music Note Drop® and two-minutes of fireworks at midnight Central Time. As a live event, New Year’s Eve generates as much as $26.2 million in direct visitor spending and an attendance of 200,000.

A second stage will be located at Skydeck on Broadway, an expansive rooftop bar and entertainment venue at Assembly Food Hall, for a ticketed event on Dec. 31. Performances there will include Riley Green, Chris Janson, Jon Pardi and Carly Pearce.

The CBS special will be hosted by radio and TV personality Bobby Bones and co-hosted by Rachel Smith of “Entertainment Tonight.” This year’s celebration marks the first time for Music City to anchor an entire New Year’s Eve national TV special. The TV show will broadcast from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. CT and resume at 10:30 p.m. CT after a 30-minute break for news. The CBS show will conclude at 12:30 a.m. CT.

The New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash broadcast by CBS is executive produced by Robert Deaton and Mary Hilliard Harrington in partnership with the NCVC. The special will be directed by Sandra Restrepo.

The CBS show will feature performances from country music’s hottest superstars, including Jason Aldean, Jimmie Allen, Ingrid Andress, Kelsea Ballerini, Gabby Barrett, Dierks Bentley, Breland, Brooks & Dunn, Luke Bryan, Riley Green, Chris Janson, King Calaway, Lady A, Miranda Lambert, Jon Pardi, Carly Pearce, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson. Highlights

• This year marks the 13th New Year’s Eve event and fifth year at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park.
• Music Note: The red Music Note that will be dropped at midnight CT is 16 feet tall and approximately 400 pounds. It is made of aluminum and acrylic and contains more than 13,000 LED pixels. The Music Note tower will be 138 feet tall.
• Selfie Stations: There are three selfie stations with giant props this year:
  • 2022 sign near the Bell Carillon is 10 feet tall and includes 1,000 LED puck lights.
  • Advance Financial Picture Frame is also near Bell Carillon with the state Capitol, the concert stage and Music Note tower as your backdrop.
  • Red light-up Music Note sign at State Lot 4 off Sixth Avenue near the Info Tent.
• Lots of Lights: Many downtown buildings will keep their lights on to celebrate New Year’s Eve and help Music City shine on national TV, including the State Capitol, Historic Metro Courthouse, Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge (KVB) and AT&T/Batman Building.
• Fireworks: There will be several seconds of pyro bursts from the Music Note tower and Capitol Hill during the midnight ET countdown, followed by a longer two-minute display at the stroke of midnight CT when the Music Note drops.
• DJ: DJ Aydamn will take the stage from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
• Two Hosts: The CBS special will be hosted by radio and TV personality Bobby Bones and co-hosted by Rachel Smith of “Entertainment Tonight.” Bones is the host of the nationally syndicated iHeartRadio program “The Bobby Bones Show,” which broadcasts to over 185 stations and is the #1 country morning show with millions of monthly listeners. • Nashville’s Big Bash is collecting online donations for Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. QR codes on event signage will offer attendees opportunities to donate. Please note, there will be no on-site food collection bins.

Fun Facts

• Biodegradable Confetti: 100 pounds of confetti will shower down on revelers at the stroke of midnight. The rice paper confetti will be cleaned up immediately after the event concludes. Any confetti that is missed during cleanup should dissolve within two rainfalls.
• Production Crew: On the busiest day of setup, there will be more than 300 production crew staff working to build the stage and setting up other elements for the concert, fireworks and Music Note Drop.
• Production Equipment: The event will use 75 production trucks, 28 pieces of heavy equipment, 624 lighting fixtures, more than three miles of fiber optic video cable, 2,000 cable ramps, more than five miles of power cable lines to power the event, 210 audio speakers and 160,000 square feet of flooring. The stage will be 7,200 square feet.
• Video Screens and Message Boards: Thirteen throughout the event site, including five within the concert viewing area.

Getting Around

• Safety and Security: The event’s perimeter will be fenced and include six entry points conveniently located around the site. Attendees should expect to walk through metal detectors as they enter. Bags and purses may be searched. There will be five public first aid tents.
• Info Tent: There will be two information booths: Off Sixth Avenue in parking lot near the Heat Tent and off Seventh Avenue near the Tennessee State Museum parking lot. Free handwarmers. Fill out a survey and earn the chance to win VIP access and airline tickets. QR codes will be available so surveys can be done on your mobile phone. Event information teams will roam the site to assist visitors on details like the concert schedule to where everything is located. “Lost and Found” will be located at the Info Tents from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.; at the Gold Circle Main Entrance from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.; and at the Nashville Visitor Center from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
• Food trucks: Main cluster in State Lot 8 at Sixth and Harrison, with additional food trucks located at the Tennessee State Museum parking lot off Seventh Avenue. Both locations will have beverage stations nearby.
• Neighborhood Taproom Tent: Enjoy craft beers in the tent near Jefferson Street.
• Celebrate Responsibly: A designated driver area will offer complimentary coffee, sodas and water for designated drivers, sponsored by Coca-Cola Consolidated, Dr Pepper Zero and Tennessee Highway Safety Office: Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk. Located near the James Robertson Parkway entrance near Sixth and Harrison.
• Heated tents: To help keep attendees comfortable, two heated tents will be available – the Neighborhood Taproom near Jefferson Street and another one off Sixth Avenue in State Lot 4.
• Portable toilets: More than 250 will be located at three locations – Seventh Avenue, Sixth Avenue and Sixth and Harrison.
• Merchandise: Event merchandise will be on sale in two tents located at Sixth Avenue near the Heated Tent and on Seventh Avenue between the Nashville Farmers’ Market and the Tennessee State Museum. Items include long-sleeve event t-shirts, koozies, hats, gloves and ponchos. Hours: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
• Nashville Farmers’ Market: The building will be closed to the public for a private, ticketed event. Tickets are available for the Music City Gold Circle Party.

WeGo Transit

Beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, free bus rides will be available on WeGo Public Transit bus routes, and service on 17 routes will be extended until 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. The WeGo Star special event train will also be available on New Year’s Eve as a safe ride for those celebrating the new year. Masks are required onboard all WeGo vehicles.

WeGo Bus Service (Sunday/Holiday service until 11:15 p.m., additional service begins at 12:45 a.m.)
WeGo will operate Sunday/Holiday bus service until 11:15 p.m. Customer Care personnel will be available to assist customers from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. All buses will operate on detours through Downtown but will resume regular routing once out of the downtown area. Additional service from downtown only will begin after the event on the following bus routes departing from WeGo Central at 12:45 a.m., 1:30 a.m., and 2:30 a.m.

WeGo Service to Event (6:15 p.m. – 2:15 a.m.)
Effective 6:15 p.m., WeGo will operate a free bus exclusively between Broadway and the concert/fireworks at Bicentennial Mall. A stop will be located on Seventh Avenue North between Commerce Street and Broadway and at Bicentennial Mall on James Robertson Parkway between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. These buses will run a continuous loop between Seventh Avenue North and the Bicentennial Mall for event goers, leaving approximately every 10 minutes until 2:15 a.m.

New Year’s Eve Train (arrives at Riverfront at 8 p.m., departs at 1:30 a.m.)
An allotment of 670 tickets is available to the general public. Round-trip tickets cost $15 plus a $2 processing fee and are available for purchase at ticketsnashville.com. Tickets will be on sale until 24 hours prior to departure or until they are sold out, whichever comes first. Children aged 4 and younger will not need a ticket to board; however, they will be required to sit in a parent’s lap.

The New Year’s Eve train schedule is as follows:

• Lebanon Station | 7:00 p.m.
• Hamilton Springs Station | 7:07 p.m.
• Martha Station | 7:13 p.m.
• Mt. Juliet Station | 7:22 p.m.
• Hermitage Station | 7:30 p.m.
• Donelson Station | 7:37 p.m.

Upon arrival at Riverfront Station, buses will be available to take customers directly to Bicentennial Mall.

For the Star’s return trip, buses will load on James Robertson between Sixth and Seventh Avenues and will proceed directly to Riverfront Station between midnight and 1 a.m. WeGo staff will be on hand to assist and direct passengers. The Star will depart at 1:30 a.m.

Weekday WeGo Star tickets and passes are not accepted on the New Year’s Eve train. Folding chairs will be allowed onboard. Any items that will not fit underneath the seat, such as bikes and wagons, are not permitted on the train. Coolers of any size are not permitted on the train or at the event. All personal items are subject to search.

Bags and purses may be searched. Lockers will be available at the James Robertson entrance for oversize bags. Exits will be clearly marked with giant illuminated globes. • No unauthorized amplification devices which disrupt event production, including handheld megaphones

• No performances or demonstrations of any type outside of the designated Freedom of Expression zone
• No chairs of any type
• No pop-up tents
• No beach or pole-style umbrellas
• No inserting stakes, poles or any other objects into the ground or using ropes, cords, tape, etc. to reserve space
• No blankets or ground tarps
• No hammocks or attaching anything to any park structures or trees
• No audio recorders or video cameras
• No camera stands, monopods, tripods, attachment sticks or selfie sticks
• No aerosol containers of any kind
• No sealed containers of any kind
• No throwing objects
• No smoking, e-cigs or vaping outside of designated smoking area
• No professional-grade radios or walkie-talkies
• No large chains or spiked jewelry
• No signs, flags on sticks or poles
• No pepper spray
• Phone recordings of concerts are illegal: No bootleg recordings, streaming or reposting

Dierks Bentley

Fisk Jubilee Singers®
Fisk Jubilee Singers® are vocal artists and students at Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn., who sing and travel worldwide. The original ensemble introduced the Negro spiritual to the world in 1871 as they traveled and raised money to sustain Fisk University. The ensemble was also instrumental in preserving this unique American musical. During their early years of travel and performance, they sang for crowned heads around the world. The Fisk Jubilee Singers continue the tradition of singing the Negro spiritual around the world, and recently performed in renowned venues such as The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Smithsonian Institute, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, The White House and Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. In 2007 the ensemble also traveled and performed in Ghana at the invitation of the Department of State in celebration of Ghana’s 50th Independence anniversary. The two-time GRAMMY-nominated and Dove Award-winning Fisk Jubilee Singers have received numerous awards including the induction into the Music City Walk of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and the GRAMMY Hall of Fame. In 2008, the Fisk Jubilee Singers were awarded the 2008 National Medal of Arts by former President George W. Bush at the White House.
