Nashville, Tenn. – As part of the Middle Tennessee economic recovery, Nashville’s Colts Chocolate Company opens a new retail store at their factory in Inglewood near East Nashville at 3611 Gallatin Pike.
Colts Chocolates Factory Store opens on National Rocky Road Day, Tuesday, June 2, and offers customers free brownies (while they last), 10% discounts on in-store purchases and buy-one-get-one-free Rocky Road Pecan Brownies and Gluten-Free Rocky Road Peanut Butter Blondies. The discounts continue Tuesday through Friday, June 5.
Also on Tuesday, Colts will reopen their kiosk at the Green Hills Mall and offer the same specials.
“It’s been a long and rocky road for us last year with moving to Inglewood and now this year with COVID-19,” said Kate Blocher, president of Colts Chocolate Co. “Although the Factory Store isn’t what we had originally planned, we decided to expedite the opening to better accommodate our customers.”
Colts moved its factory and retail store from downtown a year ago. Last summer they opened kiosks in the Green Hills and Opry Mills malls (the Opry Mills kiosk permanently closed in March). The factory has been operating in the new Inglewood location since the fall, but plans to build out the new store this year were put on hold due to COVID-19.
“We are a retail and wholesale business and both were hit hard,” Blocher said. “The malls closed and vendors canceled orders, then decreased or stopped ordering altogether as stores and events shut down.”
Colts quickly changed its business model to add more options to purchase on its website and partnered with other local businesses such as Crema Coffee, to include in Colts Chocolates gift baskets and Take Out Tuesday meals with Nicoletto’s Pasta and Colts desserts.
Colts also began offering FREE local delivery with a Nashville zip code of all their gift items and delicious hand-crafted desserts, pies and chocolates.
“We’re considered an essential business to service the food chain supply, including restaurants and stores, so we were able to fill the few orders we received,” Blocher said. “We are so thankful to have received our PPP loan (Paycheck Protection Program loan) recently so now we are able to resume production and reopen the Green Hills kiosk and launch the Colts Factory Store.”
Colts is also kicking off a summer promotion celebrating upcoming fun and unique “National Days.” They will announce specials on their social media outlets and offer them at both locations.
