HALETHORPE, Maryland. – (Oct. 19, 2020) – The brewers of the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore and Nashville-based Tennessee Brew Works have combined talents across state lines to create a beer inspired by Baltimore roots and Irish heritage. The Open Gate Brewery will host a ‘Black Eyed Susan Day’ event on Thursday, October 22 to celebrate the limited-time collaboration beer called the Guinness x Tennessee Brew Works Black-Eyed Susan.
The limited-edition brew is a golden ale with pineapple aged in rum barrels. The cocktail beer concept is on the rise in the beer industry, and this beer is a pure representation of the famous Black-Eyed Susan cocktail. Christian Spears, owner of Tennessee Brew Works, will be on-site to tap the barrels alongside the Guinness brewing team. The Maryland-themed event will feature live jazz music by Tamara Wellons and Band and a special menu to include red curry mussels with local blue crab and crab cake sliders with beer battered fries and Old Bay aioli.
“This collaboration is bigger than just the fruit of this labor–which happens to be a smooth, pineapple ‘cocktail beer.’ It is a story of two American breweries coming together as a community to do what we do best,” said Hollie Stephenson, Head Brewer, Guinness Open Gate Brewery. “We’re excited to pay homage to Maryland by reimagining the popular Black-Eyed Susan cocktail. Creative joint efforts like this are the very essence of what Guinness’ American footprint is all about.”
“Working with Guinness is at the top of the list for accomplishments in the beer industry, and Tennessee Brew Works has enjoyed their beer alongside friends and family for as long as we can remember. To collaborate with the historic brewer in Maryland is truly something special,” said Christian Spears, Founder and President, Tennessee Brew Works. “Rum barrels are hard to come by, and together we are able to bring something to the market that is uniquely Maryland, Guinness and Tennessee Brew Works all in one.”
Guests are required to wear masks to enter the property and when moving through the space or standing in line for food, beer or the restroom, but they will not be required at tables.
