NASHVILLE, Tenn. – TAO, following up their 2018 Tennessee Performing Arts Center tour stop that included a phenomenal performance of incomparable “Wadaiko-drums” and the beautiful mesmerizing melody of Japanese flutes and harps will return to Nashville with their new production DRUM TAO 2020 on January 28 at TPAC’s Polk Theater.

More than 800 million spectators across the world have been touched by TAO. It is the “Japanese Entertainment” for a new generation that completely surpasses expectations, whose modern, high-energy performances showcasing the ancient art of Japanese drumming have transfixed audiences worldwide. Combining highly physical, large-scale drumming with contemporary costumes, precise choreography, and innovative visuals, the performers of DRUM TAO create an energetic and unforgettable production.
In February 2016, their Off-Broadway show ended with great success, with Newsweek stating “The highly acclaimed debut of DRUM TAO on Broadway will represent not only Japanese entertainment but Japan itself.”
In 2017, they made their major recording debut with Universal Music as a compilation of their work over 25 years, which ranked as one of the top three albums in the iTunes World rankings for five different countries.
In 2018, they performed in the opening ceremony of “Japonism 2018” in Paris, France. They also co-starred with the Bolshoi Ballet as the opening act of “Japan Year in Russia” held at The Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia.
They were awarded “Outstanding Cultural Contribution” from Oita prefecture, the “Culture Creators Award” from Taketa city in Oita prefecture, “The 6th Japan Tourism Agency Commissioner Award”, and “Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Award” from the Japanese government.
