The new Goo Goo confection drew inspiration from the personal tastes of the seventh president. It combines dark chocolate, Old Hickory Bourbon caramel, brown sugar nougat, pecans, and an orange ganache for “one history-making flavor,” according to the description on the back of each box.
“Collaborating with icons like Goo Goo and Old Hickory Bourbon gave us the chance to do something not previously done – creating an Andrew Jackson-inspired candy,” said Howard J. Kittell, president and CEO of the Andrew Jackson Foundation. “This candy brings together a unique flavor combination and serves as a nod to a few Tennessee legends. The Hermitage is proud to be a part of this history-making candy, and we are excited to roll it out to the public.”
A limited-edition run of 3,000 boxes is now available for purchase from two locations: The Museum Store at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage (4580 Rachel’s Lane, Hermitage, Tenn.) and the Goo Goo Shop and Dessert Bar (116 Third Ave. S) in downtown Nashville. Production of the candy will continue based on demand.
“We are excited to team up with our friends at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage and Old Hickory Bourbon to bring to life this new confection that celebrates the rich history of our state,” said Laurie Spradley, Director of Brand Development for Goo Goo Cluster. “We had so much fun brainstorming with The Hermitage and Old Hickory Bourbon about the various flavors that went into the final product.”
