BNA Sets New Record for Number of Screened Passengers in a Single Day

29,731 screened passengers on Sunday, May 5

NASHVILLE ─ On Sunday, May 5, a record-setting 29,731 departing passengers were screened through the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security checkpoint at Nashville International Airport (BNA), a new single-day record for BNA and a considerable increase over the comparable Sunday in 2018. 

The previous record was set Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, with 28,550 screened passengers.

By the numbers:

  • Sunday, May 5:
    • 29,731 screened passengers, a new single-day record and a 14.5 percent increase from the comparable Sunday in 2018
    • 17,356 bags processed, a 17.2 percent increase from the comparable Sunday in 2018 – just shy of the single-day record of 17,511 bags processed on Dec. 26, 2018.

On average, approximately 20,000 departing passengers are screened each day at BNA.
