Nashville Gears Up for Major June Events
Music City will be jammin’ the first two weekends in June when DukesFest and the CMA Music Festival hit the town! DukesFest 2007, taking place June 2 - 3, features personal appearances by the stars of the show, live music performances and car stunts by the original "Dukes" stunt drivers. More than 100 General Lees will rev their engines at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds amidst all the excitement and family fun!

The annual CMA Music Festival (June 7 – 10) is unlike any other and features more than 70 hours of musical performances, autograph signings, celebrity sports competitions, and other events with more than 400 artists and celebrities participating. The 2006 CMA Music Festival was the biggest in history with more than 161,000 attendees representing every state and 27 foreign countries.

“Music City Connection” on XM Satellite Radio Travels to Washington, D.C.
As part of the Music City Leadership Study Mission, nearly 140 community leaders visited Baltimore/Washington, D.C. to focus on “best practices” in those cities. The Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau took advantage of the location and brought the group to the XM Satellite Radio headquarters for a taping of the XM show, “Music City Connection: Heroes Behind the Hits.” The in-the-round performance included top songwriters Bob Regan, Georgia Middleman and Jeff Stevens. This monthly show is produced by the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau.

American Hotel & Lodging Association Headed to Music City
The American Hotel & Lodging Association is headed to Music City for their annual Summer Conference. More than 200 members will be in Nashville for three days. The CVB will be treating the group to a special opening night reception at the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum featuring a taping of “Music City Connection: Heroes Behind the Hits” which airs monthly on XM Satellite Radio. Performing for the group will be hit songwriters Wynn Varble, Stephony Smith, Lee Thomas Miller and Lee Brice.

Georgia Society of Association Executives (GSAE) Brings Members to Nashville
GSAE held its Annual Meeting & Tradeshow May 30 – June 1 in downtown Music City. More than 300 members attended representing over 100 associations, of which over 80% are regional or national associations. GSAE takes bids from out of state to hold their Annual Meeting outside of Georgia once every five years; this was the group's first meeting ever held in Nashville.

We won, again!

The NCVB Graphic Trade Show Display created by Gish, Sherwood & Friends, Inc. won a Silver ADDY Award at the national level. The awards are given by the American Advertising Federation. Other CVB marketing materials have received regional ADDY awards including 5 Gold and 2 Silver ADDY Awards at the Southern District Advertising Federation Awards. With over 60,000 entries annually, the ADDY Awards are the world’s largest advertising competition. As our strategic materials continue to spread the Music City brand, we’re happy to say they’re not only getting results—they’re getting awards!
The CVB Sales, Marketing & Membership Team Highlights

  • The Chicago Road Show was conducted in conjunction with CVB Hall of Fame partners including both hoteliers and representatives from Destination Management companies. The group, divided into 7 teams, spent 3 days in Chicago making pre-set appointments. On the final night, the NCVB hosted an invitation-only Phil Vassar mini-concert to showcase Music City.

  • A total of 59 appointments were completed and 4 leads have been generated for 10,089 total room nights.

  • Produced kickoff concert for Awesome April along with WKDF.

  • Key booking for April included the Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development for a total of 4,050 room nights.

  • Held Music City PM networking event for members at Gaylord Springs on April 24.

  • Coordinated a co-op marketing program on Travelocity to sell more room nights and offset advertising expenses.

  • Wrapped up NCVB Membership Advisory Board Phone Blitz – top recruiters were Sandra Duncan of the Metro Arts Commission, Marti Timmons of Hotel Preston and Nick Taras of Robert Orr Sysco.
