
Music City is certainly living up to its name in September, playing host to three major music festivals featuring genres ranging from jazz to country.
Kicking things off at Riverfront Park on Labor Day weekend, the Music City J.A.M. will feature multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated R&B artist Brian McKnight, Grammy-nominated recording artist Jaci Velasquez, Guitars & Saxes members Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, Jeff Golub and Tim Bowman, and American Idol finalist George Huff. The two-day festival, September 1-2, will conclude with a fireworks display on Sunday evening. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster. A two-day pass is available for $25 or a one-day ticket is $15.
To round out the Labor Day weekend, the city of Nashville is hosting Country in the Park - End of Summer Labor Day Blast, Monday, September 3 at Centennial Park. Diamond Rio, Pam Tillis, The Dirt Drifters and Whiskey Run are set to perform beginning at 2 p.m. The event is free & open to the public.
More than 100 artists will perform during Next Big Nashville, a five-day rock music festival held in some of the city's best venues including Mercy Lounge, Cannery Ballroom, Exit/In, The Rutledge, 3rd & Lindsley, City Hall and The Basement, September 5-9. Tickets are available at www.nextbignashville.net. A three-day pass can be purchased for $30.
The NCVB and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee are partnering to launch www.NowPlayingNashville.com, a web-based calendar for music performances, theatre, art, film, sporting events, festivals and other community events occurring around the city. The new site is designed to assist visitors as they plan their vacations and residents who are interested in learning about events around town. It will officially launch in late August, but it is live now.

Titans Weekend Packages are on sale now exclusively through the NCVB. The packages include a minimum 2-night hotel stay plus Titans game tickets. Offering these packages encourages fans to spend the entire weekend in Nashville.

In search of hip and young visitors to Music City, the NCVB has launched its own MySpace and YouTube web pages. Utilizing these popular new networking websites, the NCVB hopes to broaden its reach and appeal to new audiences.
Each page lists upcoming events and information regarding Music City. They are updated regularly and direct visitors to the NCVB home page for more information on planning a trip to Music City. Don't miss your chance to submit a song in the Inaugural Music City Songwriting Competition. The NCVB is accepting entries now through August 31. The winner will be flown to Music City and have the opportunity to perform on our XM radio show "Music City Connection: Heroes Behind the Hits" hosted by Phil Vassar. They will also have their song published by The Music Group International and have it produced by renowned Nashville producer and Universal South President, Mark Wright. Attended Springtime in the Park in Washington, D.C. The tradeshow was extremely productive with our representatives gathering five immediate leads for a total of 8,500 room nights and 17 additional leads for follow up.
Installed a new wrap-around banner on the Tower of the Sommet Center to attract more attention and increase visitor traffic at our Visitor Information Center.
Produced Music City July 4th: Let Freedom Sing! attended by more than 125,000. The event aired live on national television with the best ratings ever.
Sold multiple major sponsorships for July 4th and our co-op marketing program to the Tennessee Department of Tourism.

The NCVB has realigned sales territories for the new fiscal year. The new territory divisions will allow the sales team to focus not only on specialized industry markets, but also on geographical segments of the country. The realignment should enhance sales efforts and help increase productivity in the coming year.

Gray Line Tours has developed a new Music City tour, "The Making of Music City."
The interactive bus tour features Nashville's legendary honky tonks, the Mother Church of Country Music - the Ryman Auditorium, the Grand Ole Opry Theater, Printers Alley, Country Music Hall of Fame, Musicians Hall of Fame and United Record Pressing.
