Special, Extended Spring Hours at Adventure Science Center

Nashville, TN, February 1 - Adventure Science Center is excited to announce extended weekday hours on Monday, March 11, Thursday, March 14, and Friday, March 15. Instead of closing at 3pm, Adventure Science will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Families staying local for Spring Break and families traveling to Nashville will have more time to explore everything the science center has to offer.

Additional Live Science demonstrations and shows in the Sudekum Planetarium will be added to the schedule. The monthly programming theme will be Spring into Science, with a variety of floor cart activities and curated crafts in the i2 Makerspace. Parking will remain free, and visitors can come and go within the same day of their original ticket purchase.

Limited-Time Thursday Programming

There are only four more Thursdays for visitors to take advantage of Adventure Science Center's 50% discount on general admission for youth (ages 2 - 12). Starting on Thursday, March 8, pricing will reset to $18. Families can apply the lowered rate by visiting the front desk upon arrival. Discounts may not be stacked. This is a great opportunity for families to take advantage of Adventure Science Center's warm and cozy space through the winter while saving!

Adventure Science Center also launched all-new adult programming (18+) last month but had to cancel due to inclement winter weather. The science center is excited to host the first Third Thursday on Thursday, February 15, and Thursday, March 21. These limited-time evenings are available for the same cost as general admission and include after-hours, kid-free access to the full science center, and specially curated activities like Live Sciencedemonstrations and shows in the state-of-the-art Sudekum Planetarium. Food trucks will also be on-site with food for purchase. Current college students receive a special discount which can be redeemed by visiting the front desk.

TWISTER Returns for 20th Anniversary

Saturday, February 10 | 8th to 12th Grade Girls

TWISTER is a daylong event presented by Adventure Science Center aimed to inform, motivate, and empower middle and high school individuals who identify as girls in grades 8th-12th to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

Since launching in 2003, TWISTER has impacted more than 1,450 young women and over 400 professional women have volunteered as presenters.

Throughout the day, registrants will hear from a wide variety of esteemed presenters like Shoira Shamsieva - a Software Development Engineer who leads the Women in Engineering Employee Resource Group for Amazon in Nashville. Sessions span topics from dentistry to pharmacology and forensic investigation to aviation engineering. Door prizes will be randomly selected at the end of the conference with goodies from Loveless Cafe, Parnassus Books, Nashville Zoo, and more.

The cost of admission is $20 per student and includes:

  • Four 55-minute sessions chosen by the participant
  • Hands-on, real-life STEM activities
  • Catered lunch
  • Breakout sessions with like-minded teens
  • Networking opportunities
  • Two general admission tickets to Adventure Science Center for future use

WiTT, Women in Technology of Tennessee, will be rewarding two scholarships to Tennessee high school students, with preference given to those pursuing technology-related careers. The winning award will be $6,000, with the runner-up receiving $4,000. Scholarship recipients will be introduced and awarded by WITT representatives during TWISTER.
