Hot Chicken Festival calls on contestants to bring the heat to Nashville's July 4 Celebration

Festival calls for Amateur Contest Applications.

NASHVILLE – The Music City Hot Chicken Festival presented by Piedmont Natural Gas is accepting applications for its Amateur Cooking Competition the festival website www.hot-chicken.com. The competition spices up the annual festival each year and is judged by select hot chicken connoisseurs, including former and festival founder Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell.  Five teams will be selected to compete.  

The event will be held Thursday, July 4 in East Nashville’s East Park.  Just before the festival begins, the day commences with Hot Chicken Festival Fire Truck Parade beginning at 10:30 at 8th and Woodland and marching to the East Park festival location. 

The festival will open with free hot chicken samples provided by numerous Nashville hot chicken establishments. Past hot chicken samples have been available from Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack, Bolton’s Spicy Chicken and Fish, 400 Degrees, Party Fowl, Chicken Shack Express, Pepperfire, and Party Fowl. The festival will continue until 3 p.m. bringing comradery, hot chicken activities, and entertainment for hot chicken aficionados, families and first-timers.
